My new buffet!!! :D
I had been looking for a buffet I could afford for what seemed like forever! At least, I knew I wanted one when we refinished the one for my Mother in Law, and I've been looking since then. Finally! I found one! :D It took a lot of work though....
We peeled off the entire top veneer, and then sanded the softer underlayment until we hit solid wood! :D
Then we sanded the top and stripped the sides and front.

See that small border? I love it!
We hit a snag. If you ever do this know that you MUST sand until your arms fall off! :(
See those darker spots? Of coarse you do, you're not blind. Or if you are why are you looking at before and afters? Hmmmm... Anyways, those darker areas are where the glue is. The stain soaks into the old glued spots darker than the wood. So we had to strip and sand again. And by now by we I mean mean he, because that belt sander hates me. I *heart* my little sander. :D
Here's the details of it being sanded. :D (yes that is my favorite smiley)
We bought a dremel tool and etched out the design on the doors. Again, I mean the hubby did this. Thank you, Hubby!
Again we ran into a snag. see that stupidly ugly line of wood filler along the bottom of the top drawer? I hated it. The hubby said it was okay but no.... I *hated* it.
It's the only thing I saw and still see looking at these pictures... So.... I stripped and sanded and re-filled.
Pre-poly. But SO much better!
Pardon the clutter. We started a new renovation on >>>>> that wall. I still need to get knobs for the doors but, alas, we are stuck inside due to the two...(well it *has* melted a little)....foot and a half of snow that's outside. We can't get out of the drive way. (we live out in the middle of nowhere and don't have a 4-wheel drive truck) Anyway.. I was thinking the clear glass knobs? Opinions? Oh! I also (thanks to CentsationalGirl) used Brasso to clean the up the original handles. They looked so much better!

Bathroom
Here's the bathroom before.... EW!!!
Actually, the mirror is new....ish. I never got a before picture with the old mirror.
And then here's after.... Ah....
Ignore the curtain... the hubby took these with the phone and he doesn't care what the background looks like..... : D I LOVE the cabinet at the end of the shower. It creates the perfect storage space for the towels and such. We painted all the walls but the one with the sink. We wallpapered that one. I also painted the ceiling. That ceiling was so nasty. It was covered in mold! I bleached the crap out of it and then painted it with Kilz and then painted it a hi-gloss white. I plan to replace that light but the hubby doesn't like doing wiring.... I'll have to convince him to do it.

Junkyard Bed
We have three bedroom (plus an office) house and we were originally going to have two guest rooms. However, the floor of the room we were going to have as our bedroom has a sloping floor that we hated. So our smallest room in the house is now our bedroom and the biggest room is....... MY CLOSET!!!! : D
Unfortunately, I already had bed frames for each of the guest rooms. This one I actually found in junk yard! When I saw it laying there I knew I had to have it. All its pieces were there too!
Update: I found my before picture!
Yuck. Here it is looking all pretty in our guest room.

It had some dents but hey, it was free and look how awesome. I didn't need it nor did I have a place for it so it got sold on craigslist.

My new/old table.
This table was bought by my brother's ex for $15. She found a new set later and gave this one to my mom. I had my eye on it but I already had a table.... However, our table was a family heirloom on my husbands side. I wanted to refinish it but, due to the ornately carved legs, I wanted to paint it. He and his family FREAKED out. So, after talking it over with the hubby, we decided to give the table to his mom and I got this one..... and I could paint it!!! : D As is true Chan fashion.... I forgot to take a before shot of the table BEFORE I took it apart.... So here it is.... the bottom at least. And ignore the background.... and Cici....
Cherry colored stain, meet white spray paint.
Geez!!! Ignore the penguin blanket!!! :s
Stripping... ; D
The huge chunk out in the middle.
Then it was this!!!!
Don't worry... That huge chunk missing goes facing the back.
Tile!!!!!
YAY!! We also put in four new tiles in the bathroom where we had cracked ones! I don't have any before pictures but they looked just like the surrounding ones only broken. Here's my hubby working on it. : D
And then the tile.... : D
And then the best part!!!!
All done!!! : D SOOOO much better than the broken ones. and I think it's cute!
Sorry I've been away!
I've been doing stuff I swear! I'll try to post all that I've done up on here. Be gentle on me. Here's first up. But I didn't get and/or finish the projects in the order I post them. My Great Grandma's Antique Dresser. : D It's looked like the first picture for the last twenty years. It's been mine but since I got married I also got the initiative to refinish it. All I did was redo the top. I just rubbed stain all over the rest. I know that's cheating but the curves on this! It wasn't possible. I still have some places to fill in with wood filler but.... I'll get to it.
The sanding and stripping done just have to stain.
Oh and obviously I need to refinish the stool. Reupholster I mean.
